Grangewood School Family Fun Day

Saturday 11th September  2010

Taking place at Coteford School, Fore Street, Pinner.

12-4pm

We have finally started plans for our Family Fun Day! Better late than never! The fundraising for Kai over the past year has been very successful and so Gill and Dan would like this event to raise money for Kai's School Grangewood, in Pinner.  Kai has had a wonderful time in Nursery and will be starting Reception in September.

Gill and Dan say Kai loves going to Grangewood School and really enjoys the interaction he gets with other children and staff.  And he really benefits from the excellent facilities at the school, including an amazing sensory room and a hydrotherapy pool! The staff are brilliant and are so committed to the children there, always giving 100% of their time, attention and effort.  Grangewood are trying to raise money for a new adventure playground for the children so this is what all of the money we raise will go towards.  For more information about Grangewood School go to www.grangewoodschool.co.uk

This year we are lucky to have the help of Rob Burton who runs a soccer school in Hayes for children with disabilities.  Check out his website www.disabilityfootball.com

We are also lucky to have Nicky and her girls helping us again! Between us all we have some very exciting ideas for the day and will update you soon with our progress.

But meanwhile if you think you can support the event in any of the following ways please contact us!

  • Would you like to promote your business in our programme?
  • Come and run a stall!
  • We are looking for a  top raffle prize...perhaps a weekend away or a holiday! Can you help??
  • Any other donations to our raffle - for example, vouchers;tickets to an event;food/drink hampers.

If you think you can help please contact Charlotte on 07979 205993 or email us through our 'contacts' page.

Charity Day at Gill's work!

On Friday 23rd April 2010, a charity day was held at Kai's mum Gill's work, UPS Supply Chain Solutions.  This was very kindly organised by Lynn Mason and Gill said it was an amazing day and she was completely overwhelmed by everyone's effort and support.  We have just received a cheque for £900!

Here is a little bit more information on how the money was raised...

  • Staff payed £1.00 for 'dressing down' on the day.
  • Money was donated for cups of coffee and tea.
  • A raffle was drawn by Jerry from Stuart Richardson's office.
  • Angela took the 'guess the amount of sweets in the jar' around the offices.
  • Jayne took the 'guess the weight of the cake' around the offices.
  • Exports sold cakes/cookies & drinks.
  • BT sold Crisps & Pick n Mix sweets
  • Lynn & Sarah sold chocolate
  • Hot food was on sale in the conference room.

The Kai Phillips Appeal Fundraising Evening

This event took place on Saturday 31st October 2009 at Dragons Health Club in Northolt. Friends, family and members of the local community came along to this evening and the total amount raised was £9,264.93.

Please read all about 'our first fundraising evening' which can be accessed from the home page.  Also read Gill's blog about the night.  It really was a brilliant evening and a huge success!  All money raised will go towards paying for Kai's treatment at the Cerebral Palsy Physiotherapy Centre next year.

Relay Marathon in Ireland!

On 10th October 2009 Kai's Uncle, Marcus Dixon and his team took part in a relay marathon.  The marathon started at 11am at the Whitfield roundabout Waterford City and finished in the square in Dungarvan town.

The rest of the team were John Kiely, Paul Dee-Carter, Willie O Mahoney and Joe Barry.

The day was a huge success!  Marcus says:

'Well we did the relay marathon and we had a lovely day and good weather.  We all had a great time and a good laugh! John did the first 5 miles, then I did the second part, Willie did the 3rd and Paul did the fourth, Joe did the last 6.2 miles but we all joined him to do the last 1.2 miles together.'

Well done to everyone! Marcus, along with all of us at The Kai Phillips Trust would like to thank the team for giving up their time to take part in this run.

To see the team in action , take a look at some photos on our Gallery page.
