Fundraising Evening at Dragons Health Club, Northolt on 31/10/09

Wow...what can we say! The evening was a huge success and on behalf of the Kai Phillips Trust we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed towards the evening.

We have raised a total of £9,264.93! This includes ticket sales, auction and raffle money, donations and Marcus' relay marathon cheque for £1,975 that he presented to Gill and Dan on the evening.

This is a fantastic amount of money to raise in such a short time and we are still receiving donations!

A little bit about the evening...

We were lucky enough to have Marvyn Williams (Shipwrecked 2008 winning team) as our guest presenter to host the auction and what a fantastic job he did.  We auctioned 23 items and raised £3,700, thanks to Marvin's charismatic personality. It was wonderful to have him there on the evening he will be top of our list for future events!

We also had some brilliant prizes for the raffle which raised a total of £1,510.  A massive thank you must go to everyone who donated items for our auction and raffle.

On the evening we had a Winnie the Witch themed Halloween area for the children which looked amazing (thanks to Nicky,Sophie and Maryam).  Our thanks to Janet Heanen our children's entertainer,  Andrea Owen our children's face painter and Jane Hamilton, who made the children's goody bags, what a fantastic job they all did. A big thank you must go to Hasbro, Harper-Collins and Macmillan for donating some great items for the goody bags.

Our thanks to Sue Baxter, Lauren, Dee and Ginny who provided a superb buffet for the children and adults with meat supplied and cooked by H G Walters Family Butchers, of Barons Court, London!

Steve Holland was our brilliant DJ for the evening and provided music to suit all ages.  We were lucky enough to have a magician Ross McCourt there, impressing everyone with his magic! On arrival everyone was given a program detailing the evenings events and information about the Kai Phillips Trust.

The venue was decorated by Nicky, Sophie and Maryam with beautiful flowers, pumpkins, lanterns and posters of Kai. Thank you to Nicky's friend, Ash for printing all the programs and posters of Kai without any cost to us.

Thank you to our photographer Marc Broom, who took some beautiful pictures of the evening.  These can be viewed at www.timelessphotos.co.uk and Marc will donate ALL proceeds from any photos purchased to The Kai Phillips Trust, so please place an order!

Some more photos of the evening can be viewed on our Gallery Page.

Kai's dad Dan made a very brave speech on the evening and I know Dan and Gill would like to express their thanks to everyone for all their support. They were overwhelmed by the whole evening.

Many thanks to our very good friend Benny Lazar, the bar owner at Dragons Health Club for giving us free use of the venue including bar staff.  He has also donated 10% of the bar takings on the evening!

It really was a fantastic evening! A special thank you to Nicky Darling for all her help and hard work in organising the event and making sure it all ran smoothly.  A huge thank you to all our band of helpers on the night. ..and to James, Kate, Danny, Sarah and Mariam...you were all stars!!

We are already planning our next fundraising event!  Please let us know of any fundraising you are doing so we can put all your details on the website.

Well done and thanks again to everyone!
